OO Programming Newsletter #15 from Bruce Eckel PLEASE NOTE: I AM CHANGING TO A NEW SYSTEM WHICH MAY CAUSE SERVER DISRUPTIONS. I HAVE INCLUDED ALL URLs WITH THE IP ADDRESS OF THE NEW SERVER. = = = Contents = = = * Summer seminar schedule * New "Objects & Patterns" Workshop added * Marco Cantu on OOP programming with Delphi * TIJ2 Book signing at Java One * Unit Testing in "Thinking in Patterns" * No TIJ2 solutions manual yet = = = = = = = = = = = = * Summer seminar schedule The new summer seminar schedule is finished, and includes a new class on Python. Also, there's only one "Hands-On Java" seminar scheduled (this is completely updated to reflect the 2nd edition of the book) so don't delay if you're interested. http://204.212.137.22/Calendar/Calendar.html = = = = = = = = = = = = * New "Objects & Patterns" Workshop added The "Objects & Patterns" Workshop in June sold out so we've added a second one, August 28 - Sept 1. It's popular so you should sign up early. = = = = = = = = = = = = * Marco Cantu on OOP programming with Delphi I am hosting the legendary author of the "Mastering Delphi" books for a two-day intensive seminar right after the Borland Conference in San Diego (July 13-14) (it's not an official part of the conference so anyone may attend). This intermediate seminar focuses on OO design and programming idioms. Marco is one of the smartest people I know, and a great speaker. See http://204.212.137.22/Registrations/DelphiOOP.html = = = = = = = = = = = = * TIJ2 Book signing at Java One I will be signing "Thinking in Java, 2nd edition" at Java One on Tuesday, June 6, noon at the conference bookstore. This will actually be the first appearance of the book; it will appear at bookstores later that month. = = = = = = = = = = = = * Unit Testing in "Thinking in Patterns" Although I am still not soliciting comments, "Thinking in Patterns" has had significant updates and improvements. In particular, I've added my own "unit testing" framework, which I think is significantly simpler to understand and use than JUnit. The current version is in HTML with all benefits that I've put into the HTML forms of the other books. http://204.212.137.22/TIPatterns/ = = = = = = = = = = = = * No TIJ2 solutions manual yet Yes, the book lies. The solution manual for TIJ2 is not "available for a small fee." I will at least put up a page explaining that I haven't started work on it yet :-( ___| Until Next Time... |________________________ Java programming questions: http://204.212.137.22/TIJ2/JavaQuestions.html Speaking & Seminar schedule: http://204.212.137.22/Calendar/Calendar.html Learn about building web sites: http://www.efuse.com Anyone can sign up for this newsletter by sending an email to join-eckel-oo-programming@earth.lyris.net.
