* Beta lecture: Hands-On-Java CD, 2nd ed.

You can now download the beta lecture (the foreword) for the 2nd edition of 
the Hands-On Java CD ROM. The full CD will probably not be completed for 
another month, but I want to try out the format and make sure there aren't any 
serious problems. This will give you a good idea of what the new CD will be 
like (I've been working hard to improve the quality). 

The download is 4.3 Megabytes. You can find instructions here:

Please note that this only includes the lectures for the foreword, despite the 
fact that the "index.html" has links and descriptions for all the talks. 

Again, the 2nd edition CD is NOT ready for sale -- this is only a beta.

If you just can't wait, then if you buy the first edition now you are well 
within the window to get the 2nd edition as a free upgrade when it comes out. 
Since you're on this mailing list you'll be automatically informed when it is 
available and how to upgrade. 

Also, thanks to everyone who gave Mac tips. The new format works transparently 
on the Mac, as well as on Linux/Unix.
